The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA

Yes, you can bring a bag into The Fillmore, as long as it measures no more than 12" x 6" x 12", and every bag gets searched at the door. Backpacks and large bags are banned outright, and a clear bag is not required but will get you through the line faster since opaque bags face an additional search. This is a historic general admission ballroom that holds about 1,150 people, so travel light and keep your hands free for the famous barrel of free apples in the lobby and the free posters handed out after select sold-out shows. Re-entry is not permitted, so bring everything you need for the night in one trip. Rules can tighten for individual artists, especially on cameras, so check your event page before you head to Geary Boulevard. Bottom line, a small purse or tote under 12" x 6" x 12" walks right in, and a backpack stays home.

No bag that fits? Plan ahead

The Fillmore has a coat check in the lobby, and the venue FAQ points lost items there after shows. Published details on fees and oversized bags are thin, so treat it as a place for coats rather than a fallback for a banned backpack. If your bag is over 12" x 6" x 12", the safest plan is to leave it at home or locked out of sight in your trunk.

Getting there

Gates open

Doors generally open one hour before the scheduled start time, and the box office opens 30 minutes before doors on show nights. Every bag is searched on the way in, and re-entry is not permitted.

Parking

The Fillmore has no parking lot. Street parking exists but fills fast, and the Japantown garages at 1610 Geary Blvd and 1650 Fillmore St are the closest paid options. Car break-ins are a citywide problem, so leave nothing visible in your vehicle.

Public transit

Muni lines 38 Geary and 22 Fillmore stop within a block of the venue, both run Owl service all night, and the 38 connects to BART.

Rideshare

There is no dedicated rideshare zone. Set your pickup on Fillmore Street or a nearby side street rather than on Geary Boulevard, which is wide and fast moving after shows.
