Fenway Park in Boston, MA

You can bring a bag to a Fenway concert as long as it has a single compartment and measures no more than 12 x 12 x 6 inches, and backpacks of any kind are banned. The same standing policy covers Red Sox games and the summer concert series, so the purse or small tote that works at a ballgame works at a show. Clear bags are encouraged because they move through screening faster, but they are not required, and even a clear backpack will be turned away. Everyone passes through metal detectors, every bag gets searched, and each person can carry in one sealed 16 oz plastic bottle of water. Consumer cameras are welcome, while tripods, monopods, and detachable lenses longer than 6 inches are not. Individual tours can tighten these rules, so check your event page before you head to Jersey Street. A single-compartment bag inside the size limit, a clear bag under the same cap, or just your pockets will all get you through the gates.

Not allowed inside

Fenway waives the size and compartment limits for diaper bags and bags carrying essential medical equipment, though every bag still gets searched at the gate. The concert series runs on the same standing policy as Red Sox games, and the park reserves the right to restrict more for any event, so treat the baseball rule as the baseline and your event page as the final word.

No bag that fits? Plan ahead

Fenway Park itself does not hold bags, but the team points fans who show up with a non-permitted bag to a paid locker truck run by a third-party company on top of the Lansdowne Garage across from Gate E. It is outside the park and costs a fee, so arriving with a compliant bag is the smoother play.

Common questions

Does Fenway Park require a clear bag?

No. Clear bags are encouraged because they speed up screening, but any single-compartment bag up to 12 x 12 x 6 inches is allowed. Clear backpacks are still banned.

Is the bag policy different for Fenway concerts than for Red Sox games?

The standing rule is the same for every event, a single-compartment bag no larger than 12 x 12 x 6 inches. Individual tours can add tighter restrictions, so give your show's event page a quick look before you go.

Can I bring a backpack to a Fenway concert?

No. Backpacks, backpack-style purses, duffel bags, and any bag with multiple compartments are banned, and that includes clear backpacks.

Can I bring water into Fenway Park?

Yes, each person can bring one sealed 16 oz plastic bottle of water. All other outside cans, bottles, and glass containers are prohibited.

What happens if my bag is too big at the gate?

Fenway directs you to a paid third-party locker truck on top of the Lansdowne Garage across from Gate E, so you can stow the bag and still make the show.

Getting there

Gates open

Gates A through E ring the park along Jersey Street, Van Ness Street, and Lansdowne Street. Gate times vary by show, so check your event page for when doors open.

Parking

Parking near the park is scarce and expensive on show nights. Garages sit along Lansdowne Street, Brookline Avenue, and Boylston Street, and booking a spot ahead of time is worth it.

Public transit

Take the MBTA Green Line to Kenmore, about a 5 minute walk away, or the Framingham/Worcester Line commuter rail to Lansdowne station right behind the park.

Rideshare

Jersey Street and Lansdowne Street close to traffic around events, so set your pickup a few blocks away on the Boylston Street side to skip the postshow crush.

Seating chart

Fenway Park seating chart showing the seating levels and the field or stage, Boston, MA
Concert stages at Fenway rise out in the outfield, with reserved seats or GA set on the field depending on the tour, plus the regular seating bowl wrapping around toward home plate. The 1912 grandstand keeps its narrow wooden seats and a few support poles that can clip sightlines, so check your row before buying. Green Monster seats put you on top of the famous left field wall with a high side angle on the stage.
