Citi Field
Queens, NY · Stadium
You can bring a regular bag to a Citi Field concert, and the limit is generous at 16 by 16 by 8 inches. Purses, totes, drawstring bags, messenger bags, and even small soft-sided coolers all get in under that size. The one hard no is backpacks, which are banned unless yours is fully clear with no obscured inner pockets. Every bag is searched at the gates, and there is no bag check inside the park, so an oversized bag has nowhere to go once you arrive. You can also carry in one factory sealed plastic water bottle of 20 ounces or less. The Mets apply this same policy to concerts, but a specific show can tighten it, so read the Know Before You Go email and your event page before you leave. Short version, a normal purse or tote breezes through and a standard backpack stays home.

No bag that fits? Plan ahead
Citi Field itself has no bag check, so a bag that fails the size rule has to go back to your car or hotel. The Mets have pointed guests to third-party locker rentals outside the gates, run by an outside company for a fee around the event window, but treat those as a backup rather than a plan.
Common questions
Does Citi Field require a clear bag?
No. Regular purses, totes, drawstring bags, and messenger bags are fine as long as they stay within 16 by 16 by 8 inches. The only clear bag rule applies to backpacks, which must be fully clear with no obscured inner pockets to get in.
Can I bring a backpack to a concert at Citi Field?
Standard backpacks are prohibited at every Citi Field event. A fully clear backpack with no obscured inner pockets is the one exception, and the security supervisor at your gate can approve bags needed for ADA or medical reasons.
What size bag can I bring into Citi Field?
Bags and hand carried items can be no larger than 16 by 16 by 8 inches. That covers purses, totes, drawstring bags, messenger bags, diaper bags, and small soft-sided coolers.
Can I bring water into Citi Field?
Yes, one factory sealed plastic water bottle of 20 ounces or less, plus one sealed soft-sided juice box per child, and neither can be frozen. Empty reusable metal water bottles are also allowed, while glass bottles, metal cans, and hard-sided coolers are not.
Is the bag policy different for concerts than for Mets games?
The baseline is the same for every event, but the Mets say details can change for a particular concert. Check the Know Before You Go email and your event page, and note that floor ticket holders enter through the Bullpen Gate.
Getting there
Gates open
Citi Field opens several gates, including the Jackie Robinson Rotunda behind home plate plus the Left Field, Stengel, Seaver, and Bullpen gates. For concerts, floor ticket holders must use the Bullpen Gate at 41 Seaver Way, and gate times vary by show. Once you exit, there is no re-entry.
Parking
On-site lots surround the stadium, including the main Citi Field lots and Lot G, with overflow lots outside the fence line. Concert parking lot opening times vary by show, so check your event page before you drive.
Public transit
The 7 train stops at Mets-Willets Point right outside the park, and the LIRR Port Washington Branch has its own Mets-Willets Point station a short walk away.
Rideshare
Rideshare pickup is in the Stadium View East lot under the highway, just north of the Shea Road and Boat Basin Place intersection. Exit on the third base side through the Left Field Gate, the Stengel or Seaver gates, or the Rotunda and follow your app to the pickup pin.
