Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL

Yes, you can bring a bag to a Wrigley Field concert, and it does not have to be clear. The standing policy lets in soft bags such as purses, fanny packs, drawstring bags, and lunch bags smaller than 16 x 16 x 8 inches, and it bans every backpack, including clear ones. Hard-sided coolers are out at any size, and every bag gets opened for inspection at the gate. The Cubs say prohibited items can differ for non-baseball events, and touring artists sometimes tighten screening for their Wrigley date, so check your event page before you head to Wrigleyville. For ballgames you can even carry in factory-sealed plastic bottles and a personal amount of food in a small disposable bag, though concerts can be stricter on outside food and drink. There is no bag check at the park, so an oversized bag has nowhere to go but back home or to your car. Show up with a small purse, a fanny pack, or just your pockets and you will sail through.

Not allowed inside

Medical bags and diaper bags that accompany guests with young children are exempt from the standard size rules, though they still get inspected. The 16 x 16 x 8 soft bag rule is the baseball baseline, and the Cubs reserve the right to change the prohibited items list for non-baseball events, so a tour can run a tighter bag rule at its Wrigley show. Even umbrellas at concerts are allowed or refused at the artist's discretion.

No bag that fits? Plan ahead

Common questions

Does Wrigley Field require a clear bag?

No. The official policy has no clear bag requirement. Any soft bag smaller than 16 x 16 x 8 inches can come in, and clear backpacks are actually banned along with every other backpack.

Can I bring a backpack to a concert at Wrigley Field?

No. Backpacks are prohibited at Wrigley Field for all events, and the ban includes clear backpacks. Bring a purse, fanny pack, or drawstring bag under 16 x 16 x 8 inches instead.

Is the bag policy different for concerts than for Cubs games?

The 16 x 16 x 8 soft bag rule is the standing baseline, but the Cubs note that prohibited items can differ for non-baseball events and some tours add tighter screening. Check your event page or the artist's announcement a day or two before the show.

Can I bring food or water into Wrigley Field?

For ballgames, factory-sealed plastic bottles and a personal amount of food in a small disposable bag are allowed, with no glass, cans, alcohol, or thermoses. Concert screening can be stricter, so sealed plastic bottles are the safest bet and your event page has the final word.

Is there a bag check at Wrigley Field?

No. The Cubs do not offer storage for bags or any other items, so anything that fails the size check has to leave with you.

Getting there

Gates open

Main entries are the Marquee Gate at Clark and Addison, the Gallagher Way Gate on the west side, the Wintrust Right Field Gate on Addison, the Left Field Gate on Waveland, and the Bleacher Gate at Sheffield and Waveland. Concert gate times vary by show, so check your event page.

Parking

Parking near the park is extremely limited, and night events trigger strict residential permit enforcement with ticketing and towing in the surrounding blocks starting at 5 pm. The Cubs run a free remote lot with a shuttle on night and weekend dates, listed on Cubs.com under transportation, and the shuttle stops on Irving Park Road between Clark and Seminary.

Public transit

The CTA Red Line Addison stop is about a block from the gates and is the easiest way in and out, and it runs 24 hours. The 152 Addison and 22 Clark buses also serve the park.

Rideshare

Rideshare is geofenced on event days, with designated zones on Addison between Broadway and Halsted and on Irving Park Road between Clark and Seminary. Expect surge pricing and a short walk after stadium shows.

Seating chart

Wrigley Field seating chart showing the seating levels and the field or stage, Chicago, IL
Stadium shows put the stage in the outfield and build a floor across the diamond, sold as general admission or reserved seats depending on the tour, while the historic grandstand and bleachers wrap around the rest. Field ticket holders usually pass an extra wristband or ticket check to reach the floor. The concourses in the 1914 bowl are tighter than in modern stadiums, so gates and ramps back up close to showtime.
