The Gorge Amphitheatre
George, WA · Amphitheater
You can bring a bag to The Gorge as long as it follows the clear bag rule. Anything larger than a small 6" x 9" clutch or fanny pack must be clear plastic and no bigger than 12" x 12" x 6", and clear backpacks within that size are fine. The venue sits in remote high desert above the Columbia River, so the policy is unusually generous with water, letting each person carry in one factory-sealed bottle up to a gallon or an empty reusable bottle to fill at the free refill stations. Outside food gets in too if it fits in one clear gallon Ziploc bag. Personal lawn chairs are not permitted on the famous terraced lawn, though rentals are available for most shows, and blankets up to 50" x 60" are welcome. Festivals like Watershed, Bass Canyon, and Beyond Wonderland publish their own stricter rules that replace all of this, so always check your event page. Show up with a small clutch or a clear bag, sealed water, and a blanket and you will walk right in.

Common questions
Does The Gorge Amphitheatre require a clear bag?
Yes for anything bigger than a small clutch. Bags larger than 6" x 9" must be clear plastic and no bigger than 12" x 12" x 6", and clear backpacks within that size are allowed.
Can I bring water into The Gorge?
Yes. Each person may bring one factory-sealed, unfrozen water bottle up to one gallon, or an empty reusable bottle to fill for free at the refill stations inside. Hydration packs are allowed with a max of 2 pockets and must be completely empty when you enter.
Can I bring food into The Gorge?
Yes. Outside food is permitted as long as it fits in one clear 1-gallon Ziploc bag per person.
Can I bring a lawn chair or blanket to the lawn?
Personal lawn chairs are not permitted inside the venue, though you can rent a chair online in advance or at a lawn chair stand on show day. Blankets are welcome up to 50" x 60".
Do festivals at The Gorge follow the same bag policy?
No. Watershed, Bass Canyon, Beyond Wonderland, and other festivals publish their own allowed items lists that replace the standing policy, so check your festival's site before you pack.
Getting there
Gates open
Gate times vary by show and doors often open about three hours before the headliner. The venue's own advice is to arrive early, since traffic backing up on the rural roads in can mean delays of four hours or more on big nights.
Parking
General admission parking is included with your ticket, and paid upgrades such as Reserved and Star Parking put you closer to the gate. On-site camping at the Gorge Campground is a core part of the experience for weekend runs.
Public transit
There is no public transit to George. The Gorge sits in rural central Washington off I-90, roughly 150 miles east of Seattle, and nearly everyone drives.
Rideshare
Rideshare is essentially impractical here. Cell service is unreliable and drivers are scarce in the area, so plan to drive, carpool, or camp instead.
