Beacon Theatre
New York, NY · Theater
The Beacon Theatre, run by MSG Entertainment, does not require a clear bag, but every bag has to fit comfortably under your seat and anything larger than 22 by 14 by 9 inches is turned away at the door. There is no bag check and no coat check anywhere in the building, so an oversized bag cannot be stored and simply means you will not get in. Every guest passes through security screening, so plan to empty your pockets and pull off hats, sunglasses, and face coverings before the metal detector. Outside food and beverage are not allowed, and professional cameras with telephoto lenses, video cameras, tripods, and selfie sticks are all prohibited. Your phone is fine for photos unless the show is marked device free, which happens for some artists. Because prohibited items and phone rules can shift from show to show, check your specific event page before you head to the Upper West Side. What gets in is a small, soft, non-clear bag that slides under your seat and a phone in your pocket.

Common questions

No. The Beacon does not require clear bags. A regular non-clear bag is fine as long as it fits comfortably under your seat and stays within 22 by 14 by 9 inches.
What is the maximum bag size?
Bags cannot be larger than 22 by 14 by 9 inches, and they must fit under your seat. Anything bigger is prohibited.
Is there a bag check or coat check?

Can I bring outside food or drink?

Getting there
Gates open
The main entrance is on Broadway between West 74th and West 75th Streets. All guests pass through security screening at the doors, so arrive early and expect a line for popular shows.
Parking
The Beacon has no venue parking. Guests use nearby commercial garages on the Upper West Side, and booking a spot ahead through a parking app is the most reliable option on busy nights.
Public transit
Take the 1, 2, or 3 subway to the 72nd Street station, which is about two blocks south of the theater. The B and C trains at 72nd Street on Central Park West are also within walking distance.
Rideshare
Rideshare and taxi drop-off works best on Broadway or on the nearby side streets toward Amsterdam Avenue, a short walk from the entrance. Traffic is heavy right before showtime, so build in extra time.
